20 Week Milestone

Yah! We are officially halfway through the pregnancy. Oh, and tomorrow (Friday) my mom will be up to visit. Guess she is missing me! I am hoping to get her to help me get rid of "STUFF". I am a sentimental collector (even though I hate clutter), and find it hard to part with things. So, I am hoping that with her help, we can get this room looking more like a nursery. :D

Until next week,

It's a..........................

Yes, it's true! We are officially having a boy. Yesterday we had our Anatomy scan and the Sonographer confirmed that it was indeed a boy.

Can you say blue? Joel and I are so excited! She also said "unofficially" that everything looked good, but that it would be up to the DR. to confirm.

Joel and I want to say a special thanks to Omar and Shyra. They recently had a baby last June, and have been so kind as to pass down some much needed baby items that we can use. So we want to say:

Thank you, from the bottom of our grateful hearts!

Back to baby talk:

It's so weird to think that we are having a boy. God knows that our church needs more little boys though as the little girls outnumber the boys by a lot. Both Grandmas were excited to hear the good news too.

OH!!!!! Last night the baby was moving, and I told Joel, "Just look, you can see my belly move", and sure enough, he saw the baby moving in the tumm-tumm for the first time, so I had him try once again to feel for movement, and guess what! He actually felt something. I was so happy! Finally!!!! Though he is waiting till next month because the kicks are not very strong for him to feel for. He likened it to "a butterfly brushing their wings on your skin" Not a lot to feel, but once the baby gets bigger, he will have plenty to feel for.

What's new this week?

How far along: 19.5 Weeks

Maternity clothes: Still in my regular clothes...but I had someone tell me that I am looking sorta pregnant. I had another friend tell me I look great, and don't look pregnant at all considering Thursday we will be 5 months along. I am not sure which is better...lol

Total weight gain: 9.5 pounds (I would weigh myself with our scale, but I think it's wrong, so I'll just keept the Dr. weight)

Belly Button: Still an innie, although it looks like it got deeper. It might just be that it has spread/gotten bigger.

Best moment this week: Feeling the baby move around, our 20 week Anatomy scan, finding out it's a boy, and calling all our friends and family to tell them

Food cravings: Red Licorice...(not really a craving, but it looked so good at the store, I went ahead and bought it. :)

Food aversions: None.

Gender: It's a boy! Check out our picture above.

Crazy Dreams: None this week.

What I miss: Sleeping properly. It seems I can not find a comfortable place to sleep. It just might be our bed though.

What I am looking forward to: Fixing up the nursery, and finalizing colors/theme.

Milestones: Baby is moving almost daily, and about 6 inches in length.

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! His brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that he may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to him, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom —about the size of a large heirloom tomato. His arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on his skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

So until next week,

Our ever growing pimiento-Week 18

So we only have 11 more days until our Anatomy scan. SOOOOOO Excited!....Did I tell you I was excited? So for those of you who do not know what an Anatomy scan is, here is a brief description (as quoted from whattoexpect.com):

"Your baby will be measured from crown to rump (and what a cute rump it is!), around her middle, around her head — and that's just for starters. The four chambers of the heart will be viewed, as well as the kidneys, bladder, stomach, brain, spine, and sex organs. Measurements are taken to make sure your baby is growing appropriately (and that his or her gestational age is still on target). A survey of the organs, including the umbilical cord, ensures that they are developing normally (or identifies any potential problems as soon as possible). The sonographer will also be looking at your amniotic fluid levels, the location of the placenta, and the fetal heart rate."

Basically it is a scan that is given midway through pregnancy to make sure the baby is healthy, and growing appropriately. They also check for cleft lip, and things of that nature. Usually the scan is given between 18 and 20 weeks. On the 12th we will be 19.4 (or just a few days short of 5 months) weeks along.

As of right now we are 4 1/2 months along. Time is flying. The baby is moving around a lot. Mostly at night right as I am settling in for bed.

What's new this week?

How far along: 18.0 Weeks

Maternity clothes: Still in my regular clothes. :(

Total weight gain: 9.5 pounds (I would weigh myself with our scale, but I think it's wrong, so I'll just keept the Dr. weight)

Belly Button: Still an innie.

Best moment this week: Feeling really good, and being paid such a lovely compliment by my Pastor. He told me (well he told the whole church actually) that "motherhood" suits me. Also, feeling the baby move around.

Food cravings: None in particular

Food aversions: None in particular.

Gender: Not known yet, but I'm thinking it's a boy! Check out our video, and tell me what you think.

Crazy Dreams: Had a dream that the baby was miscarried, and did not make it. I was very disturbed, but I know that it was just that....a dream. It wasn't real!

What I miss: Sleeping properly. It seems I can not find a comfortable place to sleep. It just might be our bed though.

What I am looking forward to: Finding out the gender.

Milestones: Baby is moving almost daily, and about 6 inches in length.

Baby's now the size of a Bell Pepper!
Baby's become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements.
